Privacy Policy

Your daily scores and streak, your settings, your friend groups, an anonymous player ID, and the edit keys for any holes you make are saved in your browser (localStorage). Clearing your browser data removes them from this device.

Some features send part of this to our servers. When you finish the daily hole, your score is added to that day’s anonymous score chart. Plays and ratings of community holes are counted per anonymous player ID. Friend groups store the name you use in the group and your results for the other members to see.

You can make a profile to back up your progress and play on more than one device. You sign in with Twitch, Discord, or a link sent to your email. There are no passwords.

For a profile we store:

• the username you choose
• your sign-in methods: your Twitch or Discord user ID and username, and for email sign-in a one-way hash of your address (not the address itself) plus a masked version like a•••@example.com so you can recognise it
• your progress: daily results including shot paths and replays, friend groups, the edit keys for holes you made, your display name, and some settings (graphics, sound and vibration stay on each device)
• your first and best score on each daily you finish while signed in, when you finished, how many times you restarted or went out of bounds, and the achievements you earn
• the anonymous player IDs of the browsers you’ve synced, and a sign-in cookie on each device

When you ask for an email sign-in link, we use your address only to send it, through Cloudflare’s email service. We never receive your Twitch or Discord password.

Your profile has a page at putt.day/u/yourname. It’s public unless you make it private in Settings. A public page shows your username, your stats (days played, streaks and scores), your achievements and the public holes you made.

You can download everything saved to your profile, or delete the profile, in Settings. Deleting it removes the profile and its data from our servers and frees the username. Whatever is saved in your browser stays there until you clear it.

If you submit a hole, we store the hole design, the title and author name you enter, and your anonymous player ID so the hole can be reviewed, played, and credited to you. Titles and author names are shown publicly, so please don’t put private information in them. You can withdraw a hole using its edit key.

When you create a share link, we store that round’s shot path and score so the link can show a preview image and a replay.

While you play a hole alongside others (the daily hole’s live “ghosts”, or a Discord round), your ball and pointer positions are sent in real time to the other players on the same hole. This isn’t saved and disappears when you disconnect.

If you’re signed in and picked unlocked ball or trail colors, those colors are sent too, so others see them on your ghost in the daily hole. Other players don’t see your username.

When you launch putt.day inside Discord, you authorize it with Discord’s “identify” permission. We receive your Discord user ID, username, and avatar, which we use to show you to the other players in a round and to credit holes you create. We may store gameplay information such as your scores, streaks, and round results with your Discord user ID. We never receive your Discord password or email. Using the Discord Activity is also subject to Discord’s Privacy Policy.

We use PostHog to understand how the game is used and to catch errors and performance problems. This can include the pages you visit, features you use, approximate device and browser information, error reports, and how much of your browser’s storage the game uses (sizes only, never contents). These requests go through our own domain. We use this only to improve the game and don’t sell it.

putt.day shows ads from Playwire and the ad companies it works with. To pick ads and measure them, these companies may use cookies and similar tools to collect your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you visit. Some ads may be picked based on your interests.

Where the law requires it, like in the EU and the UK, we ask for your consent first. In US states with privacy laws, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your data for ads. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser. See Playwire’s Privacy Policy for how Playwire handles data.

There are no ads in the Discord Activity.

Hole submissions, the feedback form, and email sign-in links are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile to keep out bots. Turnstile may process limited technical signals to confirm you’re a real person.

The game is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any website, our servers process standard request data such as your IP address to deliver the game and protect it from abuse.

No passwords. We don’t sell or rent your scores, your profile or your email.

putt.day isn’t directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, and at least Discord’s minimum age when used through Discord).

You can clear the data in your browser at any time. If you have a profile, you can download or delete it in Settings. You can withdraw holes you submitted using their edit keys. To ask us to delete data tied to your Discord ID, or anything else, email us.

We may update this policy. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above.
